Mike Connor – Senior Flash Developer

My name is Mike Connor. I am a senior Flash developer based out of Brooklyn, NY. I do heavy duty front-end ActionScript 3 coding using Flex Builder as IDE, and OOP practices to write clean reusable code. I’m interested in using best practicesin getting a job done once as efficiently as possible.

I’ve built small games that run in banners, forms, quizes and a lot of media players: juke boxes, slide shows, and video players with all sorts of features.

Right now I’m very excited about the Open Source Media Framework aka Strobe -  which I believe could provide a simple and consistent way to hook into a variety of APIs (YouTube, Brightcove, Vimeo), and tying into ads (DoubleClick) and social networks (Facebook, MySpace, StumbleUpon, etc).

I’ve done projects of all sizes. On my own and in groups. Below are some of the larger RIAs I’ve built.

Touchscreen Kiosk - Car Dealership 3

The Tube: A Flash kiosk installed Hyundai dealerships across the country this fall. The Tube uses a Papervision3D menu to display a vast array of media (video, audio, charts, animations, zoomb-able bitmaps with drawing tools) for every aspect of Hyundai’s new luxury car.

Interactive Video Player caption

Dynamic Video Player: An interactive video tool in developed in ActionScript 3 that features: videos loading via xml filtering and sorting videos by subject, speaker, time, title loading of predefined playlist creation of new playlist speaker biographies code animated screen transitions.

Besides coding Flash, I also have 13 years of rich media experience: developing websites (HTML, JavaScript, CSS), editing and streaming video, AV production, CD-ROM and DVD.
